NetLibrary to distribute eBook titles from a worldwide authority on radiation protection

Reports, commentaries and conference papers among the materials available

DUBLIN, Ohio, USA, 10 July, 2007—DUBLIN, Ohio, USA, 10 July 2007— OCLC’s NetLibrary, a leading platform for full-text digital content in libraries worldwide, will distribute eBooks from the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements, a worldwide authority on radiation protection.

A number of notable reports are continuously released by NCRP. For example, NCRP released a report that discusses the most important long-term contributor to the environmental radiation dose received by humans and other organisms as a result of nuclear reactor operations and weapons testing. NCRP also released a report that is considered the standard reference for shielding medical x-ray imaging facilities throughout the world.

“The Council is delighted to work with NetLibrary to disseminate radiation protection information more effectively. As the premier eContent provider to the institutional library market, NetLibrary is uniquely positioned to provide our publications to the users of 15,000 libraries worldwide,” said Dr. David A. Schauer, Executive Director, National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements.

“NetLibrary is pleased to provide electronic access to the most essential information on radiation protection in the world. It is imperative that these publications are accessible electronically, 24/7,” said Scott Wasinger, Managing Director of Business Development, OCLC NetLibrary.

eBooks are electronic full-text copies of published print materials that are available wherever there is an Internet connection. eBooks are searchable across a library’s full collection, and users can take notes and copy-paste important text.
